| AMD B650 platform can't boot new memory 24 GB and 48 GB modules/kits are a no-go for AMD While Intel 600- and 700-series boards are happily working with new 24 GB DDR5 memory modules and kits, it appears that AMD and motherboard makers have yet to make it work. According to MEGAsizeGPU user over at Twitter, and spotted by Techpowerup.com, a Corsair Vengeance DDR5-5600 48 GB (2x 24 GB) memory kit, paired up with an ASUS ROG Strix B650E-E Gaming motherboard, and an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X processor, was able to detect the memory, go into BIOS but won't actually boot into Windows. AMD officially supports up to 128 GB of memory, so a 48 GB (2x24GB) kit or even an 96 GB (2x48GB) kit should work and operate under the 128 GB limit. It appears that users running an AMD Ryzen 7000 platform will have to stick to standard 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB kits, while Intel's 12th Gen Core "Alder Lake" and 13th Gen Core "Raptor Lake" processors can go for these new kits and even the 192 GB (4x48 GB) one, which is a maximum supported memory on their memory controllers. https://fudzilla.com/news/pc-hardwar...oot-new-memory |
