Default AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+: Competing with Aggressive Pricing

Anandtech does an in depth performance comparison of the latest AMD chip, but they forgot to take price into account in their conclusion, MAD to the rescue:

"The Core 2 Duo E6700 is $70 more expensive than the X2 6000+ but it is Intel's closest competition to the new AMD processor. The E6600 lines up pretty well with the Athlon 64 X2 5600+ at a price $10 lower, while the E6400 is only $2 away from the X2 5000+. While we know that Intel's Core 2 processors are faster, the question that remains is whether AMD's aggressive pricing changes the value equation at all.

performance per dollar would have been a nice chart

ow wait... here's one:

conclusion, Core 2 still offers better price/performance ratio, cheaper E6600 is faster than X2 6000+

sigh, why can't every reviewer think of such things especially a large one like anandtech that has a stash of hardware to compare
