Default 750W-1000W PSU shootout

Since the release of NVIDIA's top-of-the-range G80 graphics processor, we've had graphics cards that can drain 200W from computer's PSU - and demand 400W if used in pairs. Since the kind of CPU you'd use on a PC with a pair of G80s will consume about 100W itself, it's obvious that you're quickly going to run out of power if all you have available is a 500W PSU.

amount of people with SLI is like 1-2% of the market; the others have a single VGA card, few of them G80 series, and even if you do have one, you don't need 500W, since an OC'ed C2D+G80 doesn't even consume 400W.

Give me a GTX and I'll surpass that number... my little 320mb GTS and E6300 can hit 360watts+ now with two drives installed, as measured by a Kill-a-Watt P3.

360W, means you E6300 & GTS are overclocked, right?

True, I have the system overclocked, but I don't use hard mods or modified BIOS flashing. I think that whomever overclocks needs to consider it regarding their choice of PSU size. A bigger vCard and OCed Q6600 should really throw fuel onto that electric fire...
