Default 2048MB DDR Shootout

I try to keep up to date on what questions are being asked in various forums and noticed a trend in the last few weeks. I have picked up on the interest and the confusion that two gigabytes of memory can bring. With almost every memory company now offering single gigabyte memory modules and very few memory reviews of them, the lack of information is frustrating. So in order to help our memory hungry builders, I sent out requests to every memory company who sells gigabyte DDR PC3200+ modules so that AMD builders can equip our dual channels systems with a full gigabyte of memory.

The following review will give you enough information to find the perfect module for your system. Whether you are on a budget, want a screaming fast stock system, or want to raise the FSB till your CPU begs for mercy, this review will hopefully give you that information as clearly and unbiased as possible.

??
even on a gpu we have no advantage of 512 mb, why would there be advantage of 2 gb of mem over 1 gb on gaming?

the only way
The phrase kills me

The only way to use a PC is water cooling; or the only way to run a good PC is AMD or Intel.

There are many solutions to a problem - the only way=no ways

Now that we are finally done with all the excitement from low-latency modules and exclusive memory for specific boards, it appears as though the memory industry won’t be coming up with something thrilling in the near future. After a meeting with an industry insider, the motherboard and memory industry doesn’t have much to innovate on. Memory makers have already introduced faster DDR2 memory modules at Computex earlier this year. And as far as the DDR standard is concerned, memory makers have also done pretty much what they could to keep breathing life into it. However, the creativity factor is starting to drop throughout the industry with market for DDR2 picking up, much thanks to AMD’s announcement of adopting DDR2 in the future.

Despite the lack of excitement from this part of the industry, the insider commented that memory makers should have something in the future ("hopefully soon" – direct quote). The timeframe of the supposedly exciting innovation wasn’t disclosed at the time of publishing this report.

May be this is the reason 1GB stick or 2GB is needed, perhaps 4GB will be better.
