Do you guys think it's worth to wait for an affordable C1-stepping intel proc?

I can't find a 2.5 400Mhz (the cheapest C1 stepping proc). Or should I just buy a - reasonably priced and available - 2.23Ghz Intel?

I think the 2.26 is a good and cheap processor and it will do 3 gig on water.

the 2.5 400 is a nice thing but you won't find it here easily... if you ever find one, let me know...that is one great cpu to overclock, coz if you get it to run 4*133 you have it does 3.333 ghz and the membandwith is high as it's quadpumped.

don't forget : a 2.53 only goes just above 300 euro nowadays...

and that's one nice cpu which will go to 3 gig+ on water.

a 2.66 is available about anywhere by now (I bought mine at tones)

thou shalt not forget : 14/11 : [...]"They are going to drop the price on the high end," one solution provider said, explaining that the 2.6GHz P4 could become the new "sweet spot" for price and performance after the 3GHz launch. Although the new processor and expected pricing moves could realign the chip market, the solution provider said, "I think the market is stable. I think the market is still there."
2.6 aan 350 euro in november

Budget = ~250 eur => best buy seems to be a P4 2.4B (255 eur).

Do you think it's worth waiting for the 14/11 price drop? I'm currently working on a 486-DX 100, so I don't feel like waiting for another month (Unreal Tournament 2003 runs a bit choppy ).

I've bought a second hand 2.4B (never oc'ed) & Thermaltake V7+ for €180. Nice price.

Now all I need is a stick of ram and make some plexi holders to make my waterblocks P4 compatible and I'm back in bussiness.
