| What's after am2 Any word on what AMD is plotting to counter Intel's supposed A64 killer (Conroe)? This new Intel sound like a real beast, how could am2 compete when it can't match s939 performance 1 month from launch? If anyone has a clue please share. |

| their new CPU design will be under the name "K10" (current is K8, they are skipping K9) , there is not much know about it at this point, from what I've read they plan to introduce this new part Q1 of next year at the earliest. here's a small blurb about some of the technologies in K10: http://www.madshrimps.be/forums/show...&highlight=K10

| thnx, maybe they will use a really beefy chipset to make relatively intelligent decisions on how the code being run should be handled. Kind of like a nice router does with packets in the networking world |

| I think it's a bit more complex Quote:
* Threaded architectures; * Chip level multiprocessing; * Huge scale MP machines; * 10GHz operation; * Much higher performance superscalar, out of order CPU core; * Huge caches; * Media/vector processing extensions; * Branch and memory hints; * GHz performance IO; * Security and virtualization; * Static and dynamic power management. source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_K10

| That's really complex stuff. If only they had a magic bot program that could rewrite code to natively support multi-threading on the fly. If someone comes up with a super algorithm for this they will be rich (or dead if AMD engineers decide to steal it by hiring assassins) |
