| Free AV & FW hey guys, with my new rig i've been thinking of giving some new software a shot. which (preferably free) antivirus and firewall do you use and how happy are you about it? i've been using AVG and Zonealarm, and while they do work well enough, i got the feeling there has to be better stuff floating around out there. thanks for the input |

| I've been using Avast for a long time and I'm very happy about it, it very reliable and they have daily updates. For firewall I'm using Sygate Personal Firewall, it's old, it's discontinued (it's now integrated in the Norton Internet Security Toilet Paper Pack) but it works so good. I'm not using it for outside -> inside protection, but rather inside -> outside protect (like blokking wmp when it want to contact M$). |

| I'm using http://www.kaspersky.nl/ AV, no Firewall software, got a router which does enough filtering; Disable the AV most of the time though, don't think [M] site is very virus ridden and don't download random software from the web

| mails run through 2 remote viruschecks, 1 in about 1000 mails that gets through has virus; and Thunderbird catches it early, marking it spam before I even get a chance to see it. I get about ~2000 mails a day, most of which are spam of course... :/
