Default Catalyst 3.4 released

Hello everyone, I'm a new "shrimp", came over from Xtremesys. Thought I'd find a "Home away from home", or Timeshare.

Anyway, I thought I was up on thing's, as I'd just installed Cat.3.3 from Guru3D (where I usually look first) last week, but then came across these. Poeple are experiencing some significant increases 200 to 600 3DMark2003 points. I picked up 200 points in 2003, and fianlly broke 17K at 17224 from 16962 in 3DMark2001SE. Here's a direct link to the drivers for WinXP users. And below is the url to ATI-Driver page;

Liquid3D , we are testing the new Catalyst drivers with a wide range of games and benchmarks to see where the differences are

Anyone remember the day's when you couldn't even run 3DMark2001 with early ATI drivers? I purchased the Radeon 8500 64MB Retail Box for $300 when it was released and couldn't play 1/2 my games on a good day. I have to say though, you could clearly see the visual differences betwen the R200, and NV25. ATI was adept at designing VPU, and it's architectual platform (PCB). In so far as their drivers, perhaps they were distracted? Feeling guilty they "inside traded" (dumped) 494,900 shares of their own stock. Worth $7.6 million, the owners Kwok Yuen Ho, and Betty Ho, along with five other executive officers (also married literally and financially) illegally traded these shares just prior to the Q3 earnings report in 2000;

Doesn't mean they can't build great VPU's though! Their just not the smartest financiers. They had the hearing on Feburary 14th, 2003 (I don't know the outcome); http://www.osc.gov.on.ca/en/Enforcem...030116_ati.htm

I agree nvidia has a far better driverteam, but you can't deny ATI has been delivering fast & reliable drivers since the catalyst series came out.

Were's the time PBA vidcards needed seperate drivers?

I installed them on my friends pc (P4 2.8@3.0, Asus P4PE, 512 corsair, Win xp pro, Ati 9800 Pro) and no problems. So just must have done somethin wrong I guess. We ran 3dmark 03 and his score was about 5700, which is good I guess.
