Default nf7-s onboard sound vs. SB Live 5.1

What do you guys think I should use?

I searched around a little bit, but I didn't get a clear answer. Some say the nf7-s soundchip (soundstorm if I'm not mistaken) uses less resources others say it uses more than the Live or Audigy cards. And what about the sound quality?

tnx a lot

- an SB Live is a bit better then onboard sound. the quality of onboard sounds varies between crappy and quite good, but I don't think they can beat such quality cards

- the difference between the resource usage is quite small I think, only on cheap boards like an ECS they use a lot of resources

Now I know for sure it uses less recources then the Live card.
But maybe you're right about the quality. Other opinions?

Quality is OK.

What are you using it for ?

I have a fortissimo card, the soundquality of the onboard nf7 is better imo (when playing cd's, using shoutcast, ...).

The usual stuff I guess.

Games, CD's/mp3's and a DVD once in a while.

I've had both and i prefered the onboard soundstorm. I didn't notice an improvement in audio quality, but less conflicts and far better software.
