Default Microsoft .Net Framework problem

I recently needed to uninstall .Net 1.1. I used the "Add or Remove" control panel. Something happened during the removal process and screwed my system by leaving some parts of the .Net software in the system.
I have cleaned the registry and seached the system looking for the remaining parts, but have not found anything.
So, I thought that I would reinstall .Net. Well, the install starts and then fails and tells me something about an on-line service is missing and that I should search for it. No luck!
So my problems is - I can't uninstall it completely and I can't reinstall it at all.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Tried that. No Luck.

But, I have fixed the issue. I downloaded "Windows Installer Cleanup Utility", ran it and Net Framework installed in the blink of an eye.

Thanks for the response.
