| looking for good video-editing prog I found a great program to record television shows, but now I need a program to cut the commercials out of it. Any recommendations? Does virtualdub have a linux counterpart? By the way, i didn't knew an XP2200+ is more than powerful enough for realtime divx compression. Having a realtime TV recorder rocks. : ) I don't see why people pay 300 euro's for the popular Hauppage WinTV PVR350 / 250 to record realtime in mpeg2. : )

| if a P4 2.4 is fast enough to encode my TV stream to XivD on the fly, then that XP2200+ is surely able to keep up

| I found avidemux suits my needs nicely for editing video under linux. For on the fly recording from television to divx/xvid i use "vcr", for encoding mpeg to xvid/divx i use mencoder.
