Default can't boot at 2-2-2-6

Ok I bought these seccond hand mushkin level 2 pc 3500 dual ddr kits:

2*256 and 2*512

I haven't had the time to test the 2*512 set yet but I've inserted the 2*256 set and they gave me a bluescreen when booting at 2-2-2-6 (spd settings) @ 2.85 V bios setting (the highest my board will go) and 200 Mhz.

They would boot at 2,5-3-3-6 @ 2.85V 200Mhz but those were the settings I used for the Apacer ram and that's not why I payed big bucks for those mushkin's.

I think it's eather the ram or the mobo (and I'm hoping it's the latter), but tell me if there could be other possibillity's.

The mobo is an ASUS A7V600 with VIA V600 chipset btw.

I haven't been able to get my hands on an nforce or some other descent board to test with yet, and I didn't think an Intel board could handel these timings.

I'll try to prie off those heatspreaders tonight to check what chips are on the pcb's to make sure they're really BH-5's.
Is that a dangerous thing to do or can I just basically rip them off or is there (a lot off) danger damaging the chips that way?

oki, I was just wondering cuz' all those mushkin lvl 2's i've seen have browngoldish collored heatspreaders and this fancy black pcb they're so proud off but mine are blue and white.

Nways, I've done some little testing with the 2*512 set tonight and I get all sorts of bluescreens informing me about errors untill I set them to 2.5-2-2-6 and it works fine so far so my safest bet is that it's the mobo that can't handle it.
