Default some tips for my oc

i have a new mobo here because my other one was dead
its a msi 865G neo 2-p
and i have a p4 2.6ghz 800fbs
i can get my vcore to 1.8v
can lock my ram to 400mhz,agp/pci too
i have takeMS pc3200 ram

i can put my cpu @ 3.08ghz and 1.7v
when i put it on 3.1ghz and 1.7250v i can boot till windows, but superpi crashes

should i put it on 3.08ghz(or more) and some higher voltage maybe 1.7500 or something

Mhh try to hold the Vcore below 1.7V , chances are that your cpu will die.

1.75V is to high imo.

I also had a 2.6GHZ 800fsb (on a asus mobo) and could push it to 3.2GHZ without any probs on 1.7V (stable).

Isn't the ram holding you back ? try to give them more juice.

But I am no Intel oc'er , never had a intel for long tbh.

1.7v MAX, 1.65v preferred

relax memory timings, put on 3/2 divider, try to overclock past 3.1ghz; if it fails you've run into max of CPU

what is the temp under load?

please do what I suggested in my previous post, this well determine if your CPU is capable of speeds higher then 3.1gzh or not.

Like Jmke said - find your CPU limit first.

Not all CPU are created equally, some performs better than others.

If you need 1.7v to get to 3.08GHz, you won't get far W/C or not. My 2.6C goes 3.08 at default vcore (1.525 Volt) and it requires 1.7V to reach 255FSB which is the limit (water cool or not).

Yet, the 2.4C will run at 270FSB at 1.675 Volt (Windows load).

------------------------------------------------------------------

I should add my 2A runs 24/7 at 1.6Volt at 3GHz
