Default Msi 5900 128mb

Hi

First of all I don't have any experience with overclocking so I come here to ask the advice of the pro's
I have a MSI 5900 with the forceware 61.77 drivers (Win XP).
My idle GPU temp is 63° and stressed around 80°-90°.

I installed rivatuner and let it detect my speed value's.
It detects that my core is at 300 and my memory at 850.
Shouldn't that be 400 and 850 as alot of sites lists them as the default values.

What do you suggest I do to 'safly' overclock my card. I was thinking about just raising the core to 450 (ultra value) but now that rivatuner sais that the default is 300 I have my doubts.
Do you have any idea if my temp on my card will rise alot or not that much.

Thanks in advance

I have a Creative FX 5900 128 mb, when I check the clock settings in the control panel the core is 300 Mhz for 2D and 400 Mhz for 3D so I think you value is normal.

those GPU temps are quite high, do you have sufficient case cooling? My FX5900XT runs 450 without problems and GPU temps remain under 50°C even after gaming. stock (loud) cooling
