Default The “Ace” frequency of DDRII CL4 memory-CORSAIR TWIN2X2048-8888C4DF limited test

The former memory PC8888 product from CORSAIR is also DDRII 1111 CL4
level product, the first one to breakthrough 1066 frequency limited.

Top speed DDRII 1111 CL4 comes with top price, The 2GB pair kit is 610USD!
This kind of spec. and price, could be the best memory chip set in the market.
This module should run on better motherboard and better heat reduce
platform to reach the top speed.

Let’s take a look on CORSAIR Dominator TWIN2X2048-8888C4DF packing.
They use white bigger box with stickers, different with other plastic packing.

Open the white box, the packing use pink buffer stuff to have better
protection.
The small box on right side is CORSAIR’s new product.

The CORSAIR AIRFLOW Memory Fan Module, build with 3 small fan, metal
structure with quality outlook, single retail price is about 25USD.

The master is memory module it’s self, new generation DOMINATOR series,
use new bigger heatsink, will have excellent heat reduce solution with their
memory fan module.

The higher memory module PCB design.

CORSAIR new version big heatsink, looks like the brush we’ve used generally. Higher heatsink design and high density sink layout, could have better heat
reduce effect over other memory modules.

Now let’s take a look on real test.
Fist we use AMD platform, 2 of the best DDRII overclocker motherboards, ASUS and DFI’s 590SLI chipset MB
First test is DFI LANPARTY UT NF590 SLI-M2R/G

Test platform setup.
CPU:AMD AM2 Opteron1218
MB: DFI LANPARTY UT NF590 SLI-M2R/G
DRAM:CORSAIR Dominator TWIN2X2048-8888C4DF
VGA:MSI NX7900GT-VT2D256EZ
HD:Seagate 7200.5 120GB
POWER:Corsair HX620W Modular Power Supply
Cooler:Tower112 (No lock on.)

DDRII 800 CL3 3-3-9 1T 1.98V stable.

DDRII 1110 CL4 4-4-9 2T 2.11V stable.

DDRII 1205 CL4 4-4-9 2T
Super PI 1M/CPUMARK99

Memory bandwidth test on Sandra/EVERST

2.39V SP2004 test stable.

DDRII 1214 CL4 4-4-9 2T 2.39V
CPU already reach the limited with no lock on CPU cooler.

Intel platform test to be continued

Another platform test – Intel side.
ASUS 965 series motherboards should be the better boards on both FSB and
memory extreme overclock design, the ASUS P5B Deluxe P965 chipset based
ultimate test.

Test platform setup.
CPU:INTEL Core 2 Extreme X6800
MB: ASUS P5B Deluxe
DRAM:CORSAIR Dominator TWIN2X2048-8888C4DF
VGA:ELSA GLADIAC 790GS 256B3 2DT
HD:Seagate 7200.7 80GB
POWER:Corsair HX620W Modular Power Supply
Cooler:TT Sonic Tower

DDRII 800 CL3 3-3-9
Super PI 1M and Sandra / EVEREST memory bandwidth test.

2.1V dual SP2004 test stable.

DDRII 1137 CL4 4-4-9 2.25V dual SP2004 test stable.

The highest DRAM voltage is 2.45V without MOD rework.
DDRII 1170 CL4 4-4-9 2.45V dual Super PI 32M stable.

DDRII 1200 CL4 4-4-9 2.45V
Super PI 1M and Sandra / EVEREST memory bandwidth test.

Change FSB divide setup
DDRII 1200 CL4 4-3-9 2.45V
Super PI 1M test finished.

This ASUS P5B Deluxe did not MOD the circuit, can reach DDRII 1200 with
2.45V on basic test.
If MOD this board with 2.6V, it could have the chance to work stable with
DDRII 1200.
CORSAIR Dominator TWIN2X2048-8888C4DF is the top segment product,
Also comes with higher price, the better AM2 590LSI/Intel 965 series boards
can match the overclock are also expensive.
After 2 top performance chipset motherboard on different platform, the
comprehensive dispatch in test result, as long as good DRAM like this and
good overclock motherboards combine, will all have the chance to reach
DDRII 1111 to 1200 level.
But in reality, it could have 3~8% difference due to different condition, but
CORSAIR guarantee DDRII 1111 CL4 level stable.
Beside the DDRII 1200, the exciting part is the new CORSAIR AIRFLOW
memory fan module,
Use 3 fan design, with strong air flow and low noise.
In fact I wanted to find a memory fan module with figh performance and high
quality.
Can help overclock memory to reach higher speed and more stable work for
long term.
Also can help memory modules to reduce the heat on normally setup. This is
really a awesome product for memory overclock!
About other chipset performance on Intel platform,
like NVIDIA new 680i and Intel 975X motherboards,
Will coming soon here or comes with other new product test.
Next test should be my third 965 motherboard test later, the ASUS P5B
Deluxe easy test.

Or the high-end NVIDIA 680i motherboard.

Also could be the entry level Dual-Core challenge : Intel E6200 vs AM2 4200+
X2.
Coming Soon!!
