Default World of Warcraft Smashes Record

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that their new MMORPG, World of Warcraft has broken day-one sales records in North America, making it the most successful PC game launch ever. According to the company, World of Warcraft sold-through to over 240,000 customers in North America during its first 24 hours of availability. Blizzard also included that the title broke peak concurrency and account creation records for a MMORPG. Within the first day, over 200,000 players created World of Warcraft accounts, and by 5pm PT over 100,000 people were playing concurrently. The company had to add an additional 40 servers by the end of the Thanksgiving weekend to meet demand. Blizzard reports that over 350,000 copies of World of Warcraft have been sold-through to date.
