We take this high end AM2 motherboard from MSI based on the nVIDIA 590 SLI chipset for a spin, exploring the overclocking features and performance.

Intro & Overview

The MSI K9N Diamond motherboard continues the Diamond product line from MSI, previously the K8N for S939 Platforms. This new motherboard has heat pipe chipset cooling and lot of potential for overclocking. The nVIDIA NF590 SLI chipset is used which features EPP technology to help overclocking of DDR2 memory modules.

The motherboard has:
- 2x PCIe x16 slots
- 2x PCIe x1 slots
- 2x PCI 32-bit slots

The onboard sound is provided by a Sound Blaster Audigy SE chip, which delivers high quality and crystal clear audio at a standard 24-bit/192kHz, EAX Advanced HD sound effects are also possible with the onboard sound, there are several output options, including optical and S/PDIF.
