UT2003 seems to favor the 6600GT by a far margin. While any of the cards tested would be playable at this resolution and detail level, the Abit RX600 might have problems in some spots with heavy action etc... The vanilla 6600 card impresses me when considering costs and performance thereof.
Impressive showings by both of the 6600 series cards! I guess the advertisements on the boxes stating Doom3 recommended are indeed correct, at least to a point. But what happens when resolution is bumped and details are increased?
The 6600 Series cards pretty much put the smack down on the competition. Well let me rephrase that a bit! The 6600GT beats the X700Pro by a whopping 40% at 3.6GHz or 240FSB. While the Radeon X700Pro allows bus speeds to scale higher, there is basically no difference in the DOOM3 scores as the game seems GPU bound by that point. What is really astonishing is the ability of a sub $150 graphics card in the Albatron 6600 to run within a few frames per second of the $200 X700Pro.
The 6600GT takes a backseat to the X700Pro in this benchmark, although by a very slim margin. The Albatron 6600 returns to a more pedestrian performance level falling basically inline to the Abit RX600Pro using the
Turbo setting.
