Razer Kraken V4 Gaming Headset Review

Audio/Others by stefan @ 2024-10-13

After working a bit with the Synapse settings, we fired up Still Wakes the Deep, Alien Isolation and The Medium: the 40mm Titanium Triforce drivers are able to deliver a great atmospheric experience, with punchy bass, clear voices, while THX audio really makes you think you are using a much more expensive multiple-speaker setup around you. We did really enjoy the breathable fabric earpads which, in our experience are more durable in time versus leatherette ones, but also the retractable microphone, a function we learned to enjoy with SteelSeries headsets as well!

A Closer Look Part IV

It comes with a flexible body, a frequency response between 100 Hz and 10 kHz, a SNR >= 60 dB, a sensitivity (@1 kHz) of -42 +/- 3dBV/Pa, while the pick-up pattern is unidirectional:

On a closer look, we will discover a metallic black mesh on both sides of the chassis:

The right cup does accommodate the Smartswitch button, to flip between Bluetooth 5.3 and 2.4GHz modes, but also the Game/Chat balance button:

Between the earcups and the headband we will note sturdy cabling:

The headband is marked for making sure we adjust with the same length on both sides, while a subtle THX logo can be also found here:

The headband is covered with leatherette on the top area and a large Razer logo is available here as well:

The earcups are large and thanks to the memory foam cushions, we won’t feel uncomfortable even when wearing glasses. The Stereo channels are marked and under the cushions we do have drivers with a frequency response between 20 Hz and 28 kHz, with an impedance of 32 Ohm and a sensitivity of 98 dBSPL/mW at 1 kHz. These are 40mm in diameter, customized dynamic Titanium:

As soon as we have started charging the headset, the activity LED showed up blinking:

The RGB lighting looks great with the middle Razer logo and the perforations around it:
