Razer Kraken V4 Gaming Headset Review

Audio/Others by stefan @ 2024-10-13

After working a bit with the Synapse settings, we fired up Still Wakes the Deep, Alien Isolation and The Medium: the 40mm Titanium Triforce drivers are able to deliver a great atmospheric experience, with punchy bass, clear voices, while THX audio really makes you think you are using a much more expensive multiple-speaker setup around you. We did really enjoy the breathable fabric earpads which, in our experience are more durable in time versus leatherette ones, but also the retractable microphone, a function we learned to enjoy with SteelSeries headsets as well!

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

Kraken series of Razer headsets has already reached its fourth iteration! These do feature Razer’s patented 3-part driver design, the upgraded HyperClear Super Wideband microphone, Game/Chat balance option, 9-zone earcup lighting, connectivity on wired USB-A, wireless via Razer HyperSpeed but also Bluetooth 5.3. Surround sound is assured by THX Spatial Audio and we can expect up to 70 hours or use with the lighting completely turned off.

The product is shipped inside a medium-sized cardboard enclosure, with a clear photo of the product in the frontal area; Razer is highlighting the three modes of connectivity via icons in the top left corner, the fact the product is RGB-enabled, while in the lower area we will note some of the main product features, but also the list of compatible platforms:

A more condensed list of features is available on the side, on a green background:

The opposite area does come with a Razer logo:

In the back, Razer does show a more detailed look on the swivel mechanism, but we will also learn of the 2-year product warranty:

After removing the top packaging layer, we will discover another box, this time with a simple design; in the top area we will note one of Razer’s sayings “Full-Spectrum Immersion. Unleashed.”:

The full details of the specs are available on the bottom area of the box, along with the product code name and serial number:

The back of the box does show another of Razer’s sayings “For Gamers. By Gamers”:

After lifting the top cover, we will discover the headset, sitting secure inside a cardboard and foam material mold for protection, while the dongle is placed right in the middle:

We are also offered some documentation:
