ECS LIVA Z7 Plus Mini-PC Review

Others/All-in-one PC by stefan @ 2024-10-27

The Intel Core Ultra 5 125H based on the Meteor Lake architecture does come with quite a unique core architecture, with 4 Redwood P-Cores, 8 Crestmont E-Cores and 2 LP E-Cores for a total of 18 total threads (P-Cores feature HT), does integrate a dedicated NPU for supporting the latest AI platforms, while the GPU is based on Intel Arc Graphics with 7 Xe cores supporting the latest technologies including Ray Tracing. As we have noted from the test results the ECS LIVA 7 Plus is topping our charts in terms of performance and one of the main reasons would be the lack of aggressive power capping other models do employ to accommodate less elaborated cooling systems.

The UEFI Interface Part I

The LIVA Z7 Plus comes with a standard Aptio Setup utility, with the menus on the top area of the screen. From the Main area, we can adjust the interface language, but also the system date and time:

The Advanced area comes with several sub-menus:

The LAN configuration area allows us to enable or disable the LAN interfaces, but also enable or disable network stack:

The PC Health Status menu will inform us on the system temperatures, the CPU fan speed, but also the voltages:

The Power Management area will show the usual options:

Some details on the SoC will be shown on the CPU Configuration page; from here we can enable/disable HT or virtualization:

The SATA Configuration menu does show the interfaces and mentions of a SATA interface not connected to a device (connectivity not present either on the board as a separate cable due to the lack of extra space); we do, however, have the NVMe Configuration sub-section:

Here we will find details on the drive connected to the 2280 slot:

The USB controllers can be enabled or disabled from the next menu:

The Super IO Configuration menu is informal only:
