ECS LIVA Z7 Plus Mini-PC Review

Others/All-in-one PC by stefan @ 2024-10-27

The Intel Core Ultra 5 125H based on the Meteor Lake architecture does come with quite a unique core architecture, with 4 Redwood P-Cores, 8 Crestmont E-Cores and 2 LP E-Cores for a total of 18 total threads (P-Cores feature HT), does integrate a dedicated NPU for supporting the latest AI platforms, while the GPU is based on Intel Arc Graphics with 7 Xe cores supporting the latest technologies including Ray Tracing. As we have noted from the test results the ECS LIVA 7 Plus is topping our charts in terms of performance and one of the main reasons would be the lack of aggressive power capping other models do employ to accommodate less elaborated cooling systems.

A Closer Look Part III

On the sides of the chassis, we will find a hexagonal pattern with orifices, but also a grill, acting as an exhaust for the bottom area of LIVA Z7 Plus and as an intake for the top area:

The same type of pattern can be noted on the back, along with the metallic grill acting as a filter; four rubber feet are present in the corner, which are also equipped with screws, but we will also find two stickers:

By removing the top bottom screws, we will find out how easy it is to upgrade the machine, but also how easy it is to clean the intake fan:

Speaking of the fan, we have an Everflow R127010SH, with a power rating of 12V at 0.35A. This one is 70x70x10mm, with a maximum rated speed of 4200RPM:

Surprisingly, the two frontal USB 2.0 ports are placed on a separate daughterboard, attached to the bottom cover:

The supplied SSD is a WD SN740 256GB:

It includes a SanDisk 20-82-10081-A1 Polaris MP16+ controller, on TSMC 16nm FinFET process, including 4 flash channels and relying on HMB:

A single SanDisk 060681 NAND (WD/Kioxia 112-Layer TLC (BiCS5)) is present on the board:

The back side of the board does lack extra components:
