The Transporter Lite 2TB Portable SSD offers good performance and enough capacity for a lot of tasks such as backup for different software, storing multimedia content or different documents. It packs TLC NAND but comes with a healthy amount of pSLC not to cause performance drops immediately, while the aluminum build helps with heat dissipation.
Before starting the second stage of our tests, we needed to fill the drive over 50%; during this time, we monitored the drive transfer rates. The write workload started at optimal levels:
Even after 325GB of data written, we did not notice any slowdown:
The first performance drop occurred after 453GB of data written:
The secondary, this time a very sharp drop occurred after 523GB of data, where we noticed HDD-like transfer rates:
Till the end of our tests, the speed was hovering between 45MB/s and 100MB/s, a specific behavior when writing directly to the TLC NAND. As detected by HD Tune, we are dealing with a Patriot P300 2TB inside the chassis, which comes with Toshiba TLC 3D NAND Flash ICs:
