Silicon Power MS60 USB 3.2 Gen 2 1TB Stick-Type SSD Review

Storage/SSD by stefan @ 2024-07-19

The new stick-type MS60 SSD from Silicon Power has the portability advantage, is very light and does not heat up much thanks to its aluminum housing. The transfer rates are over the declared ones, but if we do write continuously to it, we will note a speed drop after the first 10GB, due to pSLC cache filling up, so the writes will hover around 165 and 175MB/s.

Packaging, A Closer Look

Silicon Power has recently released another Portable SSD making use of the USB 3.2 Gen 2 bus, but this time it is in an USB stick format, for portability sakes. It comes with capacities of 250GB, 500GB and 1TB, with a total weight of just 13.8g and the chassis is made from aluminum so it can dissipate heat more efficiently.

The product is shipped inside a simple cardboard/plastic enclosure, showing right from the front the total drive capacity, how the protective cover should be operated, but we will be also introduced to the rated read/write speeds:

On the back, we will find a small QR code for warranty activation, details on the Silicon Power Worldwide Service Center, logos of the supported standards but also the product serial number and the internal code name:

The product comes with a width of 21.3mm, a height of about 10.4mm, while the total length is 71.3mm; the aluminum body is colored in blue, and on it we will note the SP logo, the fact we are dealing with a SSD, but also the capacity:

If we turn the drive on the other side, we will note the plastic cap design in more detail:

A small channel for attaching a lanyard is also available:

The USB connector will be available for use after lifting the protective plastic layer:
