Shuttle XPC slim DL30N Barebone Review

Others/All-in-one PC by stefan @ 2024-07-21

XPC slim DL30N is an entry-level, completely fanless miniPC from Shuttle that does not concentrate on performance, but low power consumption. The Intel N100 is only equipped with E-cores and despite the advertised 3.4 GHz boost clocks, this speed is only available for very short periods of time and when the system is not loaded on all cores; the PL1 Power Limit is set at 6W and for not exceeding this value while all cores are loaded, the speed will decrease even to about 900MHz! The Shuttle cooling system is doing its job great, so we did not see temperatures exceeding 52 degrees Celsius even at highest loads, so we cannot say the lowered clocks are because of throttling.

A Closer Look Part IV

The IT6516BFN is a single-chip DP to VGA converter:

The CMOS battery connector is close:

The XR34350IL IC from MaxLinear takes care of the COM ports:

This is helped by the SIPEX SP3243EU high-speed intelligent +3.0V to +5.5V RS-232 transceiver:

The 2.5’’ storage tray is accompanied by a SATA Data/Power connector:

The tray also features a protective film, so short-circuits will be avoided when using regular HDDs:

Along with the DL30N barebone, we did also receive the WLN-M1 upgrade kit:
