SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5 Wireless Gaming Headset Review

Audio/Others by stefan @ 2024-07-31

After working a bit with the settings in Sonar, we fired up The Callisto Protocol, DOOM, Wolfenstein: The New Order but also Escape The Backrooms. Even if we are dealing with 40mm drivers, the audio quality is well balanced, with clear highs and well represented bass. We did enjoy the spatialization, while the microphone quality really impresses in terms of clarity.

SteelSeries GG Part I

Headset customization is possible via the dedicated SteelSeries software, GG; it will prompt right after you plug the dongle in your computer:

The software can be used with or without an account, but creation of an account is recommended so you can save presets to the cloud:

The software does come with multiple functions, accessible from the left side of the GUI:

Sonar software will first ask us to select the devices for game, chat and microphone sources upon first start up:

The Mixer area does allow the user to configure volumes separately, depending on the type of audio contents; between the Game and Chat volume levels we do also have the ChatMix option available, which is useful when in conferences:

Each of the mixer sources does come with separate options; the Game section includes the EQ and allows selection of different presets:

We can enable or disable Spatial Audio, with different Tuning parameters:

Furthermore, we can enable Volume Boost and Smart Volume:

The Chat menu involves the microphone, so we have a different EQ type; presets are available here as well:
