Silicon Power US75 M.2 2280 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD Review

Storage/SSD by stefan @ 2023-12-25

The US75 2TB drive from Silicon Power does use less familiar components, such as the MAXIO MAP1602A 4-channel controller but also the YMTC VSYMT04TA104 232-layer NAND with Xtacking 3.0 technology; this new technology incorporates a 6-plane NAND design which does improve speed and also efficiency. We were quite surprised that the drive can maintain up to 850MB/s writes even after having filled more than half of the capacity, while the drive price is good when compared to the competition.

Drive Behavior during Continuous Write

We have monitored the drive while continuously writing to it, until filling more than half of the total space, before starting the second stage of our tests. For the US75, we have monitoring for both NAND and controller temperatures; here are the IDLE values:

The write process has started at optimal levels:

The first decrease in speed we have noticed after writing about 580GB of data, which is quite a good result!

At this stage, we have recorded about 49 degrees on the NAND and 58 degrees on the controller:

The second decrease, to around 1GB/s has occurred after having written about 830GB of data:

Even at this stage, the temperatures were looking really good!

Till the end of our test, the speed did hover between 800 and 850MB/s, a result that is quite good for a mainstream to high-end drive:
