SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3 Gaming Headset Review

Audio/Others by stefan @ 2022-10-03

Compared to the previous Arctis models, the Nova 3 seemed lighter as soon as we have started wearing it, while keeping a high comfort level. After adjusting the settings with our preferences via the Engine module, we started listening to several music videos on YouTube, vlogs but also watched some TV shows; the sound is great regarding lows, mids, while the crisp highs allow voices to be optimally rendered. Regarding games, we did play Forza Horizon 5 where car engines were a joy to listen, along with the nice soundtrack which complements the experience; in Warframe, the sound of the weapons were well represented, along with the screams of despair when slaying foes.

SteelSeries GG Part I

To take full advantage of the Arctis Nova 3 headset, we had to install SteelSeries GG, the unified software with compatibility for most SteelSeries peripherals:

The area we were most interested in for accessing the product settings was Engine; the software also reminded us that a firmware update was in order:

The menu area where we can adjust the settings is simplified, easy to understand and split into two categories:

-Audio

-Illumination

The 6-band EQ does have some presets we can apply right away, or we can define our own:

The microphone volume can be separately adjusted:

Microphone feedback can be enabled from the software, for us to hear the output for test purposes:

Mic sidetone can be enabled as well, in case we need to work with such a function (we prefer it completely disabled):

The microphone Mute LED intensity can be adjusted and if needed it can be turned off as well:

The Illumination tab takes care of the RGB setup of the cups, and we can set a different effect for each of the cups; the default effect is ColorShift and comes with different patterns as well:
