SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3 Gaming Headset Review

Audio/Others by stefan @ 2022-10-03

Compared to the previous Arctis models, the Nova 3 seemed lighter as soon as we have started wearing it, while keeping a high comfort level. After adjusting the settings with our preferences via the Engine module, we started listening to several music videos on YouTube, vlogs but also watched some TV shows; the sound is great regarding lows, mids, while the crisp highs allow voices to be optimally rendered. Regarding games, we did play Forza Horizon 5 where car engines were a joy to listen, along with the nice soundtrack which complements the experience; in Warframe, the sound of the weapons were well represented, along with the screams of despair when slaying foes.

A Closer Look Part III

We are always a fan of retractable microphones versus removable ones, due to ease of use; the microphone Arctis Nova 3 is incorporating has reached the second ClearCast generation and features a bidirectional noise cancelling polar pattern. In terms of specs, we do have a frequency response between 100 and 10kHz, while the sensitivity is set at -38 dBV/Pa:

The left cup comes with more controls! We will note right away the Microphone mute button, along with the Volume wheel:

Moving on, we will see the multifunctional USB port:

The headband has been redesigned as well (ComfortMAX System) and now includes a simpler adjustment mechanism with two plastic pins on each side:

The height can be also adjusted, but this time there are no gradations on the chassis as we have seen with models which feature a metallic inner layer:

When the headset has its microphone muted, the dedicated red LED will light up:

We can obtain the desired RGB effects for the cups when installing the SteelSeries GG software (via Engine module):
