Shuttle XPC slim Barebone DL20N6 Review

Others/All-in-one PC by stefan @ 2021-12-20

The DL20N series from Shuttle is an impressive jump in performance versus the older DL10J, while the choice to have installed a Pentium N6005 4-core SKU while retaining the 10W TDP is great! The whole system is passively cooled, so it is virtually noiseless if we do install only SSDs as storage devices. We have found that using the chassis horizontally is not stellar for the nearby M.2 SSD, because it tends to share a bit of heat from the Intel SoC heatsink, but in vertical position the issue is fully solved so purchasing the vertical stand is a must in our book!

The BIOS Interface Part I

The BIOS does not come with the regular UEFI interface, but with the simple Aptio Setup format. The Main menu informs the user regarding the BIOS, EC and build date versions, the Intel ME version, GUID, CPU type and running frequency, the total installed memory capacity but we can also set the system date/time:

From the Advanced menu, we have several sub-sections available:

The CPU Configuration menu allows the user to see the CPU specs in detail, but also adjust some specific settings such as V.T., C State Support, EIST or Turbo Mode:

The SATA Configuration area will only display detected devices:

From the Onboard Device Configuration menu, we will be able to turn on/off the integrated audio CODEC, the LAN interface and more!

Serial port configuration is available from here as well:
