Razer Opus X Wireless ANC Headset Review

Audio/Others by stefan @ 2021-07-19

After connecting the Opus X to our Galaxy S21 smartphone, we went ahead and listened to different YouTube video clips but also podcasts. The sound delivered differs depending on the selected EQ preset but overall is of good quality on all frequencies; the voices are clear, while the bass delivery in the Enhanced Bass EQ setting is not overpowering and does not distort at higher volumes. The microphone is loud and clear enough in Skype conferences, even though the headset is not using HD codecs and the battery life of about 30 hours will help with use over multiple days from a single charge.

Packaging, A Closer Look Part I

Razer has recently released a new set of headphones meant to be used on-the-go but also along mobile systems thanks to the included Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. It shares some features with the Hammerhead TWS Pro such as the Gaming Mode or the integrated ANC but is oriented more towards people which prefer an over-ear design of the cups. The advertised battery life from a single charge is amazing (30 hours with ANC activated and up to 40 hours with ANC disabled) and can be found in three different color schemes: signature Razer Green, Quartz (pink) and Mercury (white).

The headset was shipped inside a very compact cardboard enclosure, which also highlights the color of the product. On the top cover we will note the interface it functions on (Bluetooth) but also the fact that it supports AAC and SBC mainstream codecs (not Qualcomm proprietary such as aptX, aptX LL or aptX HD):

On the side, Razer has included the product name on a black background:

The opposite area includes a small product description, together with a note regarding the two year warranty and the available Razer audio application:

The back side we will note the list of product features, in multiple languages:

The bottom area comes with the package contents list, the requirements for the mobile application but also some technical specifications. Further down we do have the product serial number:

After removing the top packaging layer, we will get to see that the inside contents are further wrapped inside an additional carboard layer. The top document contains a description of the product, together with the signature of Min-Liang Tan, Razer’s Co-Founder, CEO and Creative Director:

In the box we also found a set of nice Razer case stickers:

The manual explains the headset interfaces, how to press the buttons in order to obtain different functions but also how to pair via Bluetooth:

Let’s remove the hardware from the protective layer and take a closer look!
