BIOSTAR RACING B550GTQ AM4 Motherboard Review

Motherboards/AMD AM4 by stefan @ 2020-09-04

The B550GTQ AM4 board from BIOSTAR is a very interesting affordable and compact offering, which sports a clean design, including reinforced PCI-E slots, enough connectivity ports, passive cooling for the chipset and the ability to install no less than four memory modules. The UEFI interface has been further refined and contains enough options for system tuning as well; as we have noted with other platforms sporting Ryzen 3000 processors, manual overclocking is not really needed, since the CPU will clock itself accordingly depending on the cooling system and other operating factors.

The UEFI Interface Part I

The UEFI GUI sports a cleaner styling than before and will first open in EZ mode, where a lot of settings can be modified from the same menu:

The more advanced interface can be accessed by pressing F7 and has a lot of menus on the top area which we can access; the Main menu will show details regarding the currently flashed BIOS, the total memory installed inside the system and running speed but here we can also adjust the date/time; of course, let’s not forget the widget area on the left, which gives us live info regarding the CPU running frequency, voltage, DRAM running frequency and voltage, CPU temperature but also the current date/time:

The Advanced Menu comes with plenty of sub-sections:

Trusted Computing

ACPI Settings

SATA Options

Chipset Common Options

IT8625 SuperIO Configuration
