CORSAIR SCIMITAR RGB ELITE MMO/MOBA Gaming Mouse Review

Others/Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2020-03-25

In order to try out the new SCIMITAR RGB ELITE, we fired up Grim Dawn, TERA but also StarCraft II; after positioning the Key Slider Control system to our liking, the 12-button assembly was easily accessible for accessing our macros. We could work with the spells/actions faster than accessing the keyboard keys and during this time the mouse shape did really help as well regarding comfort. For other game types such as FPS we would go though with lighter mice though, since this model weights about 122g without the cable.

Impressions and Conclusive Thoughts

In order to try out the new SCIMITAR RGB ELITE, we fired up Grim Dawn, TERA but also StarCraft II; after positioning the Key Slider Control system to our liking, the 12-button assembly was easily accessible for accessing our macros. We could work with the spells/actions faster than accessing the keyboard keys and during this time the mouse shape did really help as well regarding comfort. The sensor did track, as expected, flawlessly and the high DPI values do recommend it for use with multi-monitor setups or high resolution displays as well. In terms of configuration possibilities, it is driven by the well-known iCUE unified software, so if you have other supported peripherals or components, the RGB lighting can be synchronized as well. Profiles can be saved to the onboard memory as well, so they could be used on other systems with or without iCUE installed.

As we have been used with other CORSAIR peripherals, the build quality is premium, while the 50 million click rating for the left/right click buttons does really say something about reliability.

The SCIMITAR RGB ELITE can be found online for about 90 Euros.

Here are the Pros and Cons:

Pros:

-updated sensor that can now drive a resolution of up to 18000 DPI

-comfortable shape

-patented 12-button assembly for easy access of macros in games but also productivity work

-easy remapping and RGB lighting customization thanks to the iCUE software

-reworked scroll wheel and 50 million actuation rating for the left/right buttons

-decent pricing, so it is accessible for the mainstream crowd as well

Cons:

-USB cable is a bit too stiff

-rubber coating will collect skin oils and lint in time, mostly in the left/right button areas
