Dream Machines DM5 Blink Gaming Mouse Review

Others/Mice & Keyboards by stefan @ 2019-11-12

Since this model is using the same PixArt 3389 sensor and Huano switches for the left/right buttons with an endurance of 20 million clicks as with the DM1 FPS, we have had similar experience when gaming in RAGE 2, Dead Space 3 and Diablo 3. The reliable sensor can track optimally without additional acceleration while the mouse weight along with the shoelace cable do complete the experience. An interesting addition is the hardware button for turning off the lighting completely in just a few seconds, while the Basilisk-like DM Shot button is easy reachable for actions that need to be performed quickly, such as Sniper.

Packaging, A Closer Look

After looking at the very affordable DM1 FPS gaming mouse, Dream Machines has sent us another model packing the PixArt 3389 optical sensor, which is named DM5 Blink.

The product is shipped inside a compact cardboard box, with a photo of the mouse on the top cover, highlighting the RGB characteristics:

On the sides we will only get the product name logo:

In the back, the manufacturer does list the main features, such as the inclusion of the PixArt 3389 sensor, Huano switches for the left/right buttons, the maximum DPI the sensor does support but also the fact that we can choose 16M color combinations for the RGB enabled areas:

Inside the box, we will get to see that the mouse along with its bundle is shipped inside a black plastic mold, with a transparent cover; Dream Machines has also included a small leaflet with instructions:

Let’s get the mouse and bundle outside the protective layer and take a closer look:

As we have seen with the previous item from Dream Machines, the manufacturer does not omit to offer a separate set of PTFE feet, in case the current ones do wear out:

The DM5 Blink does share some design elements with the Razer Basilisk; named DM Shot, the extra button is placed under the thumb and can be used for different quick actions (such as Sniper); besides the button pre-installed on the mouse, we are also getting a different one for replacement:
