The ASUS Open Overclocking CUP, in short AOOC 2014, is the event to host the clash between Europe's fastest overclockers. After going through three online qualifying stages 16 overclockers received their ticket to participate in the grand final. Event location is the immaculate Moscow Cyber Stadium; yes you guessed it located in the heart of the Russian Capital city. Madshrimps was invited in assisting the highly motivated Overclocking.TV crew in their shout cast.
Conclusion
The ASUS Open Overclocking Cup has been a insane roller coaster ride. For the competitors as the entire competition was extremely close and till the last round at least 3-4 teams still had the chance to win the grand prize; also for the organizers an event of this size is not easy to get directly structured and the small issues they had during the event were quickly addressed and rectified. A job well done Team ASUS and the present HWBOT crew for providing the scoreboard. Of course a big thank you to the Overclocking TV crew for taking me onboard as a virgin shout caster; besides losing my virginity I also lost my voice. If anyone has seen it, plz send it back to Belgium:)
The Moscow Cyber Stadium was an amazing location that had the same wow effect on all those that entered the venue. Too bad for the static electricity which caused numerous unpredictable shutdowns and might have had some serious influence on the performance of some of the present overclockers.
AOOC 2014 was a flawless organized event, which is expected if you have people onboard that were either heavily involved in several OC competitions or those that have the skills to properly organize it. On top of that being able to take swift and good decisions that are fair for all competitors. Also the way the ASUS crew organized the online qualifiers had to be applauded. With limiting the clock frequencies at one stage it became a more level playing field and not only for the happy few that have the highest clocking processors. Secondly picking Devils Canyon (i7-4790K) instead of the 4770K again leveled the playing field as most competitive OCers only have golden 4770Ks.
A good set of benchmarks instead of the usual repetitive stuff, made this a very intense competition to spectate. Also the fact that all the hardware is provided is a good thing and should be copied up by any vendor that wants to create an attractive and close competition with equal chances for everybody.
Well time to wrap it up. What is the result of a superb location, great people, amazing hardware and a very competitive atmosphere? The Best OC event of the year 2014!
