iOCEAN X8 octa-core Smartphone Review

Mobile/Smart Phones by stefan @ 2014-06-13

With the 5.7’’ X8 model, iOCEAN has chosen to go with a much more professional look by using a combination of metallic alloy and Gorilla Glass III for the front and thicker Asahi Glass for the back. We are still dealing with a dual-sim model thanks to the specially designed tray (which can fit both micro-SIM and nano-SIM), 32GB of internal memory but no microSDHC card slot has been fitted this time.

The Software GUI Part V

The Security menu contains the Superuser (root) feature and this tells us that the ROM comes pre-rooted as we have found with the X7S:

The Language & input menu let us choose different keyboard input methods (Sogou is set as default but we can easily switch to the stock Android keyboard) and more:

The Backup & reset menu takes care of data backup in the cloud and from there we are also able to perform a Factory Data Reset:

Date & time menu is pretty self-explanatory:

Schedule power on & off menu is present on all MTK ROMs:

The advertised Gloves Touch feature is present inside the Accessibility menu; this one works well, but make sure to disable it as soon as it won’t be needed anymore since the screen becomes super-sensitive and touch interface may act crazy at times because of different external influences:

Since the X8 is pretty big, the manufacturer saw fit to include two other assistive options:

Developer options menu is pretty shrinked and only shows three options:

From the About phone menu we will be able to see different details like installed Android version, Baseband version, Kernel version but also the current Build number:
