iOCEAN X8 octa-core Smartphone Review

Mobile/Smart Phones by stefan @ 2014-06-13

With the 5.7’’ X8 model, iOCEAN has chosen to go with a much more professional look by using a combination of metallic alloy and Gorilla Glass III for the front and thicker Asahi Glass for the back. We are still dealing with a dual-sim model thanks to the specially designed tray (which can fit both micro-SIM and nano-SIM), 32GB of internal memory but no microSDHC card slot has been fitted this time.

The Display menu allows us to enable ClearMotion (the feature present on the MTK 6592 octa-core SoCs), set the wallpaper for the desktop, adjust screen brightness and more:

Gesture Sensing is an added menu from iOCEAN, which helps us to perform certain actions with the help of the sensors located on the top side of the screen:

From the Storage menu we will be able to check out how the free space is partitioned and it is great to see that for the Internal Storage iOCEAN has chosen to have 4GB so there will be no issue to have installed plenty of applications. The Battery menu lets us hunt for the battery “vampire” applications, display the battery percentage on top but also enable the CPU power saving mode:

Location access menu allows us to enable the hardware GPS, but also make use of Wi-Fi and mobile network to speed up the locking process:

Smart Wake menu has been introduced with the X8 and makes use of specific gestures in order to open certain applications. The most useful option we have found to be “double click to wake screen”:
