iOCEAN X8 octa-core Smartphone Review

Mobile/Smart Phones by stefan @ 2014-06-13

With the 5.7’’ X8 model, iOCEAN has chosen to go with a much more professional look by using a combination of metallic alloy and Gorilla Glass III for the front and thicker Asahi Glass for the back. We are still dealing with a dual-sim model thanks to the specially designed tray (which can fit both micro-SIM and nano-SIM), 32GB of internal memory but no microSDHC card slot has been fitted this time.

Test Setup and Test Results Part I

The X8 smartphone from iOCEAN is equipped with a MediaTek MT6592 SOC, as the X7S before it. This is a true octa-core chip with eight ARM Cortex-A7 application processors clocked at 1.7 and the Mali-450 MP4 GPU cores are clocked at 700 MHz. This smartphone also comes with 2GB of installed memory:

The Battery tab will show the current status:

To test out the performances of the X8 smartphone, we have installed some freeware benchmark apps from the Google Play Store in the internal memory (did not transfer them to a 3rd party microSDHC card, in order not to influence the test results). Afterwards, the applications were ran one-by-one, and we recorded the final scores; the obtained results were also compared with the previously tested systems, in order to spot the performance differences.
