iHome iP90 Dual Alarm Clock Radio for iPhone/iPod with AM/FM Reception Review

Audio/Others by stefan @ 2011-02-16

The iP90 from iHome comes with an easy adjustable dock to fit our Ipod or Iphone, features dual alarms, EQ, a 3D sound setting, top buttons for different adjustments with backlight and more; the bass is more powerful than the iP49, but it is not as compact as the former.

A Closer Look Part III

On the top side there is also an adjustable dock, so we do not need any more to use customized inserts:

The dock can be adjusted with the knob present near it:

On the back of the unit, we can see the bass ports from the speakers, some ventilation holes, and some extra buttons:

From left to right, we can find the AC Adaptor Jack, the DST switch, Clock Adjust/Time Sync Button, 12h/24h Button, AM Loop Antenna socket, Line In jack and the wire for the FM antenna:

Here is a closer look on the FM antenna:

The bottom of the device is provided with small circular rubber feet, to avoid the surface the iP90 will stay on:

Also on the bottom, we can find a switch with the inscriptions: Normal, Hotel Low and Hotel Hi. For regular home use, we can keep the switch in Normal position. Hotel Low lowers the output of the unit and Hotel High maintains regular output. While in either Hotel mode:

a) Clock adjust and 12h/24h buttons are disabled

b) Radio presets can be accessed, but not programmed

c) Alarms operate as single day alarms (will not automatically come on the next day even if Alarm Reset is pressed), 7-5-2 operation is disabled, and wake to playlist is disabled

d) The remote control sensor is disabled

The bottom sticker tells us the frequency range the device works on, the backup batteries type and voltage, along with the rating of the AC adaptor and service code name:

Here is a closer look of the preinstalled backup batteries:
